Table Tennis Women's Single Semi-final

Very impressed by the amazing performance presented by Kim Hyang Mi, the North Korean table tennis player in the women's single semi-final against Li Jiawei from Singapore.

During the first four games of the match, even myself believe that Li Jiawei is going to win, though I am very much inclined Kim Hyang Mi to win the match. It is partly because Li Jiawei defeated Wang Nan, China's second seed and a well-loved player; it is also because I am afraid Li Jiawei has spent much time to study how to play against Chinese player which may pose a great threat to Zhang Yining, who will be playing the winner of this match in the final.

Kim Hyang Mi lost her third game with an astonishing score 0:11!! After 4 games, Li Jiawei leads with 3 to 1. Li Jiawei only has to win one match out of the 3 games available in order to get in final; Kim Hyang Mi has to win every game. After studying statistics (or even using the common sense), the probability for Li Jiawei to win is much higher.

However, miracles do happen. Kim Hyang Mi slowly won all the rest 3 games and finally clinch the chance to get in final. In facing the great difficulties and disadvantages, Kim Hyang Mi never gives up and fight until the very end. If I were her, I may just collapse after the disastrous defeat in the 3rd game. Kim Hyang Mi really presented the true sportsmanship. She deserves to win the match, indeed.

Kim Hyang Mi will be facing Zhang Yining today in the final. Though I very much hope Zhang Yining will win at last to bring one more gold medal to China, and I believe she will win, I still hope to see Kim Hyang Mi's spirit and amazing performance in the match.

Farther, Faster, Higher!
